“Annual Hampton Gray VC Chapter BBQ”

HGVC Chapter held its annual BBQ at the HMCS Carleton CPO’s Mess this past Saturday, June 18th, with 50 plus CNAGers and friends in attendance. Special thanks to Bill & Ulva Calver for coming all the way from Newcastle to join in what by all accounts was another fun filled afternoon with several old stories and friendships reinstated.

Sick/Recovering: Ted Forman is still fighting back, as are Keith and Margaret McEwen.

Executive Reports:

National Region Director – See Sec report below.

President – Peter reported that we, HGVC, have once again submitted supplementary updates to the Canadian Aviation Hall of Fame in hopes we will receive a favourable review for the 2012 Belt of Orion Award. He also advised the preliminary planning for the acceptance of the Plaque recognizing Canadian Naval Aviation as a “Special Entity” are well in hand and will hopefully coincide with the Sea King Jubilee events in August of 2013.

Secretary/PR – Paul advised that he has received notice from MP Peter Stoffer that he has once again brought the Claw Back issue to parliament in Bill C-215.  Paul also advised that the “Battle of the Atlantic Ball”; the “Battle of the Atlantic Ceremony”, at the NWM and the Annual Naval Aviation Rendezvous at HMCS Bytown Messwere all extremely well represented by CNAGers. And the Tribute to the Legendary Swordfish held in the new auditorium of the Canada Aviation and Space Museum, cosponsored  by Vintage Wings Canada,  on June 11th was an incredible event during which several of our CNAG Veterans’ were recognized during a special “Veterans’ Roll Call”.  Paul has been invited to lay the CNAG wreath at the Aboriginal Cenotaph on June 21, 2011 in celebration of the tenth anniversary of this monument to acknowledge the commitment and sacrifices of Canada’s Aboriginal People.

Treasurer – Roger confirmed we are still solvent.

Upcoming Events:

“Christmas Wine & Cheese at the CASM” in the late fall (Date TBA)\

We truly hope that all CNAGers and friends thereof, have a great, and most importantly, a safe summer.
