September brought 16 members of Banshee together at 443MH. Leading the pack Tony Keeler, Gord & Veda Synnuck, Al Brown, Colleen Jewell, Vic Collis, Iris Bailey, Barb & Bernie Lahey, Jean Muir, Josephine Higgins, Edith & RL Smith, Betty Hadden, Stoney Jackson, and Paul Peacey.

A number of our group continue to have repeated skirmishes with the medical community including Sonny Shah, Syl Foster, and Jean Howe.  It was reported that Alice Budesheim had abandoned the Saanich Peninsula for Nanaimo. I also had a note from Kit Gough that Barb had finally retired and he had returned to work after a 22 month extended vacation which he had wisely used for travel.

Banshee has all but abandoned the “formal” meeting routine although we still introduce bits and pieces.  On this theme Gord has finally admitted publicly that like me can’t always remember names, and would like to see all attendees wear their name tags!  Those not heeding this request could well be subject to a fine!

We have moved our meeting times up to 1300 so Edith & Jean & Betty now have the added responsibility of obtaining groceries for the meetings.  At Edith’s suggestion we are centering out a member to give a 10 minute oral history (some thing like what I did on summer vacation from your school days).  Betty Hadden was the first press ganged for this scenario, and did a commendable job.

Banshee next gathering will be at 443MH Hornets Nest Thursday October 27th @1300 with snagys, sweets, and Halloween candy (?).  Feel free to dress up as for trick or treating.  Our Xmas gathering is booked for Glen Meadows on Friday December 2nd.

On the POC West front I am hearing very little from other chapters and folks west of the Great Lakes.  Should you know anyone out there that would like news of views to be posted with this communication on the CNAG website or would like to be added to my distribution list please advise by email to peaceypaul@shaw.ca .

For those of you interested in the ongoing saga of the new Maritime Helicopter the contract has been awarded for the new complex at Victoria Airport (Pat Bay) and they should be soon breaking ground for the new home of 443MH once upon a time HS50.  I shall attempt to keep up to date with major milestones and pass them on.
